Located in the heart of a valley wide and sunny, Forni di Sopra is found in Carnia, in the eastern part of Friuli Dolomites Park, one of the largest in the Alps and the most abundant wildlife.
Although at 907 meters altitude, environment and climate are typical high mountain. Overall, the area extends from 900 m altitude of the town, with almost 2600 meters the highest peak dolomite: their natural characteristics let you enjoy many outdoor sports throughout the year, and this promises constant contact with nature.
The ancient settlement in the valley still has a particularly attractive old town, with houses of stone and wood and interesting findings, particularly in churches. Unlike many mountain resorts, the people live in the valley throughout the year, thus maintaining local traditions and culture genuine. Good restaurants known for their typical dishes with herbs, pumpkin, mushrooms and mountain products.
The Centre visits Forni hosts the exhibition The vegetation of the Park complemented by a small laboratory teaching in nature botanical exhibitions relating to herbs and mushrooms. The Path of the child, nature trail suitable for schools and families and the Path of Gentian are the most picturesque routes in the park side Fornes, important for the particularities in the various botanical environments typical of the Dolomites.
